Comedy at The Builders is back!

Comedian Dave O’Neil features in our hilarious line-up for our first show back on Saturday 17th of Feb.

Rejoice, After four long years Wollongong Comedy is back at The Basement Bar at The Builders Club!
Our monthly shows will feature the cream of the Australian Comedy scene, with some of the highest profile comedy names in the country coming to perform in Wollongong’s hottest live venue.

Our first show features Spicks and Specks record holder Dave O’Neill headlining, with Ready Steady Cook star David Smiedt MC. Our support acts are award winning comedian and disability advocate Madeleine Stewart and Channel 10 writer and actor Alex Jae.

Dave O'Neil

Dave O’Neil has done stand up for over 30 years and been seen on TV shows such as The Project, The Front Bar, Have you been paying attention, Question Everything, Fisk, The Panel, Good news Week, Hey hey it’s Saturday  and Spicks and Specks where he holds the record for the most appearances (67 times!).

Madeleine Stewart

Disability advocate and award-winning comedian Madeleine Stewart charms audiences everywhere with a sweet demeanour, veiling razor-sharp wit. You may have seen Madeleine perform with Adam Hills, Rove McManus, or Reuben Kaye or caught her episode on Dylan Alcott’s Listen-Able podcast. Her viral sketch on Marriage Equality for ABC iview reached 2.4mil views on insta, showcased her ground-breaking exploration of disability and Centrelink.

David Smeidt

David Smiedt has been delighting audiences around the country and overseas with his brand of warm inclusive comedy for over 12 years and is now one of Australia’s finest comedian MC’s and corporate performers. David is a regular on television shows such as Mornings with Kerri-Ann Sunrise, The Today Show, Ready Steady Cook and having appeared on Stand Up Australia he is also the author of six humorous books.

Alex Jae

Alex Jae is known for her unique style and ability to surprise audiences – juxtaposing her bubbly girl-next-door appearance with a darker, hilarious edge. Alex is one half of hit podcast, ‘The Ladies Guide to Dude Cinema’, and after climbing the Sydney comedy ranks she has worked as a writer and featured cast member on Channel 10’s Pilot Week and Saturday Night Rove, as a writer on Channel 10’s Show Me The Movie!, and plays Dani in award winning series Thirty.

Open Mic + Headline Joe Camino + MC Martin Henchion

On Friday 9th February we have our new open-moc comedy show The Good, The Bad and the Funny starting at Ryan’s Hotel, Thirroul at 7pm.  There will be hits, misses, clangers and classics.  We will have a professional MC and headline for these shows with a mix of new and experienced comedians doing their funny thing!
